Jan 31, 1986 Remarks at the Memorial Service for the Crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger in Houston, Texas. President Ronald Reagan delivers a eulogy for the heroes. C/A Camelot kids JOHN F. KENNEDY, JR. (JFK, Jr., John F. Kennedy Jr.) and CAROLINE KENNEDY seated in crowd, listening to speech. C/As of the bereaved listening to the President speak. We come together today to mourn the loss of seven brave Americans. To share the grief we all feel, and perhaps in that sharing to find the strength, to bare our sorrow, and the courage to look for the seeds of hope. Our nation is indeed fortunate, that we can still draw on immense reservoirs of courage, character and fortitude. That we re still blessed with Heros, like those of space shuttle Challenger. Dick Scobee knew that every launching of a space shuttle is a technological miracle, and he said, That if something ever does go wrong, I hope that doesn t mean the end to the space shuttle program. Every family member I talk to, ask specifically that we continue the program that is what their departed loved one would want, above all else. We will not disappoint them.

Berlin's Tegel Airport-June 26th 1963 : Audio excerpts from John F Kennedy upon leaving Berlin "I said yesterday that I was going to leave a note for my successor which would say, "To be opened at a time of some discouragement," and in it would be written three words: "Go to Germany." I may open that note myself some day. I know the American people naturally wonder on occasions whether all that they have done since the end of 1945, all the responsibilities and burdens that they have accepted, whether any of this effort is recognized and appreciated. If they had any doubts, certainly it would seem to me that the warmth of the welcome of the last 3 days which was extended through me to the American people should have ended them. And for that reason, if for no other, I am happy I came and I express my thanks to you, Chancellor, and to all the German people for the hand they held out to us." But if he is sustained, as President Kennedy was, by the Democratic Party all over the United States, dedicated to the same things that he was attempting to accomplish, he can accomplish a great deal. No one knew that more than President John F. Kennedy. He used to take great pride in telling of the trip that Thomas Jefferson and James Madison made up the Hudson River in 1800 on a botanical expedition searching for butterflies; that they ended up down in New York City and that they formed the Democratic Party. He took great pride in the fact that the Democratic Party was the oldest political Party in the world..."
