28 year-old Jean-Pierre Marquant, a former French paratrooper, finishes a seven day, 100 mile hike across Death Valley, California and becomes the first man in history to walk across the hottest spot on earth. CUS - His sneaker-covered feet walking on the floor of the desert. It looks very rocky and hard to walk on, but Jean Pierre pushes on. Extreme -CUS - Jean Pierre drinking from a metal canteen; that water has to be very, very warm. MS - Getting hot, and the sun beating down, Jean Pierre seeks the protection and a little shade of an umbrella while walking. MS - Hills and mountains in the background. MS - Walking with an umbrella, camera pans down to the rocks on the floor of Death Valley and Jean Pierre Marquant keeps on walking towards the mountains.
