The New Riviera: Sochi. In southern Russia, on the Black Sea, Sochi boasts the largest number of Soviet health resorts. Most of these resorts are run by the various trade unions--steel-making, mining, geology, construction, and the arts. Citizens go to Sochi for a holiday or to improve their health. Each year more than one million people go to Sochi on union vouchers alone. More than 200,000 people from other countries also go there yearly. In the evening, the cultural life is full, with concerts and theatrical presentations.
