Master 1487 - Tape 1 TLS steady stream of young white men carrying belongings, passing through doorway, beneath "Information" sign posted overhead at U.S. Army induction and recruitment offices in New York City, New York; MS white male U.S. Army Sergeant (military recruiting services officer) handing out literature to young white and black men passing by. TLS newsreel cameramen and still photographers gathered outside building, crowding street. MS young white bespectacled man smilingly taking donut (doughnut) and coffee from three uniformed Red Cross white women; sign behind them reads, "Stop! Your Career Starts Here!" VO: "... and in other cities, the record number of volunteers left for training camps of all the services... (edit) ... forces all over the nation. In New York, the first of the city's quota of draftees reported for pre-induction."
